Yesterday was a full and busy day here at Compassion for Greek Paws.
The morning began with important safety work. With high temperatures and dry grass increasing fire risk, areas behind the pens and around the shelter fencing needed cutting back and clearing. Creating safe fire zones is an essential precaution to help protect the dogs and the shelter during the hotter months.
Alongside that, the usual daily care continued — cleaning, feeding, and brushing winter coats out as temperatures rise.
Later in the day, we were delighted to welcome a visit from long-time supporter Paula Kangasmaa, who has been in Greece helping at another shelter. Although only a flying visit, it brought so much joy to both people and dogs alike.
Paula spent time with her sponsor dog Serena, shared cuddles with several of the dogs, and kindly gave additional support towards Serena’s care.
We were also thrilled to hear that ARGOS Animal Rescue Greece will be sending a donation directly to our food supplier — wonderful support that will help feed the dogs in our care.
Visits like these mean more than people realise. They bring fresh energy, social interaction, stimulation, and affection for dogs who benefit greatly from meeting kind new faces.
By the end of the day there were wagging tails everywhere.
