Winter preparations are fully underway at Compassion for Greek Paws as colder temperatures begin arriving across the region.
With forecasts dropping to 0°C overnight, fresh hay has been added to the dogs’ houses to help keep them warm, cosy, and protected during the colder nights ahead. Hay provides important insulation during winter and helps make shelter life much more comfortable for the dogs.
At the same time, work has also begun on transporting sand and gravel into the pens to help fill holes and improve the ground conditions around the shelter. Wet weather and active paws quickly create uneven muddy areas, so regular maintenance is essential to keep the dogs safe and comfortable.
The first trailer load has already been unloaded, with much more still to do over the coming days. Naturally, the dogs were immediately busy investigating, sniffing, and supervising the work every step of the way. 🐕🐾
Behind the scenes, rescue work is a constant cycle of preparation, repairs, cleaning, and seasonal changes — all focused on giving the dogs the best environment possible while they wait for their forever homes.
