Compassion for Greek Paws would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful supporters and rescue volunteers who recently travelled from Finland to help animals in Greece.
Paula Kangasmaa and her daughter Johanna Tuomola from ARGOS Animal Rescue Greece, alongside Heli from Stray Dog Cabaret and friends Jake, Sammy, and Anika, spent time supporting another local shelter by helping prepare for winter. Their work included building new dog houses and improving muddy pen areas with sand and gravel to make conditions safer and more comfortable for the dogs ahead of colder weather.
Although their schedule was too busy to visit Compassion for Greek Paws directly this time, Leanda was invited to join them for a day at Triantafyllia Trou Shelter in Ptolemaida. After a long journey by bus and taxi across more than 45 kilometres, the group spent the afternoon working together transporting sand and gravel, improving shelter areas, and sharing a productive and enjoyable day helping the animals.
The day ended with food, conversation, and celebrations for Anika’s birthday — a reminder of the strong friendships and shared compassion that connect rescue supporters across countries.
Compassion for Greek Paws was also incredibly grateful to receive support from ARGOS Animal Rescue Greece, who will be sending a donation directly to the shelter’s food supplier to help feed the dogs in care.
In addition, Paula kindly donated €100 to help purchase much-needed supplies. The funds were used towards worming treatments, meaning all dogs both inside and outside the shelter have now received treatment this week.
Support like this goes far beyond financial help. It strengthens rescue communities, improves animal welfare, and reminds everyone involved that they are not alone in caring for Greece’s stray and abandoned animals.
