Keeping Shelter Dogs Protected as Temperatures Rise

Compassion For Greek Paws

Compassion for Greek Paws has provided flea, tick, and worm treatments for all shelter dogs thanks to support from Friends of the Strays of Greece and the Walk with Mandy fundraiser.

As temperatures begin to rise in northern Greece, protecting rescue dogs from parasites becomes an increasingly important part of daily shelter care.

This spring, all dogs at Compassion for Greek Paws received essential parasite protection and worming treatments to help keep them healthy throughout the warmer months ahead.

To protect against fleas, ticks, and other parasites, the shelter once again turned to Friends of the Strays of Greece for support. After a request for assistance, funds were immediately provided directly to the veterinary team, allowing the shelter to purchase high-quality Seresto collars for the dogs.

Seventeen collars were collected from the veterinary clinic and fitted to the shelter dogs, providing long-lasting protection during the months when parasite activity is at its highest.

Alongside the flea and tick prevention programme, every shelter dog also received routine worm treatment. The cost of the worming medication was covered through the Walk with Mandy fundraiser, ensuring that funds raised in Mandy's memory continue to directly benefit the dogs she cared so much about.

Preventative healthcare is one of the most important investments a rescue shelter can make. Treatments like these help prevent illness before it starts, improving quality of life for the dogs while reducing the risk of more serious health problems later on.

While the dogs may have been more interested in the wet food than posing for photographs, the important thing is that every dog received the care they needed.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Friends of the Strays of Greece, Lyn Purden, everyone who supported the Walk with Mandy fundraiser, and all those who continue to help Compassion for Greek Paws provide essential healthcare for its rescue dogs.

Together, your support is helping keep the dogs safe, healthy, and ready for brighter futures. πŸ©΅πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·πŸΎπŸ•β€οΈ
