Routine Blood Tests for Tricky, Eli and Annie
It has been another hectic week at the shelter, with three of our lovely dogs due for routine veterinary checks and blood tests.
Tricky, Eli and Annie all live with leishmaniasis, so regular monitoring is an important part of managing their health and making sure their treatment continues to work as expected.
This latest round of blood tests brought some very welcome news.
Tricky’s Results Have Improved
At Tricky’s previous check-up in November, his leishmaniasis level had risen to 1/3200.
Following those results, the vet prescribed a course of Milteforan, followed by Leisguard.
This time, Tricky’s level has fallen significantly to 1/800.
His other blood results were also encouraging and showed him to be in great shape overall.
The vet has recommended another month of Leisguard, while Tricky will continue taking his daily Zylapour tablets as part of his ongoing treatment.
Eli Is Also Doing Better
Eli has also shown an improvement since his previous blood tests.
In November, his level stood at 1/800. His latest result has now dropped to 1/400.
His other blood tests also showed him to be in very good health, which was wonderful news to receive.
Eli will repeat a one-month course of Leisguard syrup and continue taking his daily Zylapour tablets.
Annie Remains Stable
Annie continues to do extremely well.
Her latest leishmaniasis level remains stable at 1/100, and her other blood results show her to be in great health.
For now, Annie will simply continue with her daily Zylapour tablets and regular monitoring.
Why Routine Monitoring Matters
For dogs living with leishmaniasis, ongoing veterinary care and routine blood testing are an important part of keeping the condition under control.
These appointments allow the vet to monitor changes, assess how each dog is responding to treatment and make adjustments when necessary.
For Tricky, Eli and Annie, this visit brought exactly the kind of results we always hope to hear.
Tricky and Eli have both improved since November, while Annie remains stable and in great shape.
After a busy week of vet visits and blood tests, it was a huge relief to come away with such positive news for all three of them. 🐾
